We are slowly approaching the end of April, which can mean only one thing… the Llandudno extravaganza is just around the corner! The bank holiday weekend will see the return of everyone’s favourite Victorian themed event. The hotels in Llandudno will already be seeing plenty of bookings for the extravaganza weekend, so if you’ll be needing accommodation for the event, it is highly recommended that you book as soon as possible.
Returning for its 32nd year, the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza will once again be host to a variety of traditional steam trains, parades and live bands playing throughout the town each day. As always, there will be a huge variety of funfair rides to suit all ages – from bobby horses to the much loved and classic waltzer rides.
When staying here at the Four Oaks Hotel you are right in the centre of all the amazing festivities. Not only that, but we provide you with spectacular views from your room onto the town’s promenade. The extravaganza will begin on Saturday May 5th and conclude on Monday, May 7th. The event will officially open at 10am each morning and will close at 5pm each evening. The Extravaganza is a true showcase of Llandudno’s community spirit; with many of the residents in the town getting involved with the activities and entertainment.
The very first Extravaganza was held on the May bank holiday of 1986. It consisted of more simply attractions such as maypole dancing, carriage rides, picnics in the sunshine on Happy Valley, and even a Grand Victorian Ball. The aim of the extravaganza was to celebrate the town’s history, with many of the local residents dressing up in traditional Victorian attire for the occasion.
The Victorian influence can still be found in the extravaganzas of today; through the parades and exhibits of cars, costumes, and imagery. Despite the town’s love of fairground rides and games, it has been decided that this year’s event will focus more on the Victorian aspect, rather than filling the streets with rides and game stalls. Each year, thousands of locals and visitors travel to Llandudno town to enjoy this prestigious annual event, so if you require accommodation for the weekend, do not hesitate to contact us to discuss availability.
